Towards Spiritual Perfection and

Recognizing an Authentic Guru

There's absolutely nothing ”high” or ”low” in enlightenment. To be enlightened is to be free, fully here, without getting entangled in anykind of drama. Being enlightened means being one with the flowing consciousness, that is, the Soul which is spread in and spread out.

Yet, ”spread out” can be misunderstood as ”cosmic” or something like that, something distant, abstract or such a concept. ”Cosmic Consciousness” implies something grand, and sure living fully here and now is grand but better put, it is also simple, clear, silent and full... To attain enlightenment simply means that one does not leave this state or this ”flow” or presence, conscious clarity or inner fulness. This is very simple! Not complex at all. Such clarity exists in all life, one only needs to know it and become one with it. This is the teaching of the Siddha-lineage and Sundara Yoga of Thirumular and Babaji.

It means uniting with the common spiritual Father of all, known in all spiritual cultures with different names, in Hinduism as Muruga Appa, Father Muruga, or Sanatkumara. The name is not important but the spiritual vibration or frequency behind the name.

Becoming familiar with Appa's Shakti one can also recognize whether a particular teacher is enlightened or not, whether he or she is sealed with this form of spiritual energy, the shakti of moksha, that is the power of liberation, or not. Meditating and getting to know Muruga Shakti is the best and simplest way to know, whether a particular spiritual lineage is true or not, whether the lineage holds actual power of enlightenment or not. If one has not yet rooted ones own consciousness into this present state, then this is the best way to find out, to make sure, which teacher has some true knowledge of life as a whole.

It is possible to experience deep states of unity or samadhi but these experiences come and go. True spiritual enlightement comes like turning on a switch and stays as calmness and serenity (yet this does not mean that enlightened persons would always appear like this outwardly, on the surface they appear to change but within them it is always still and clear).

Attaining Self-Realization can occur in samadhi but experiencing samadhi does not automatically lead to Self-Realization. Whichever the case, if the person does not continue to polish oneself in meditation, then, most probably, these deep samadhis or moments of clarity vane into a mere memory. The presence of Muruga Shakti shows what is the present state.

Muruga Appa can not be manipulated or twisted. Muruga Shakti is the power of enlightenment. Muruga is the power of Truth and therefore it can not be manipulated. Whether one knows Muruga by this name or some other name, Muruga's vibration, His frequency is common to all enlightened souls and teachers, despite of their personal path, history or background. This should be understood clearly.

But it also needs to be said that even enlightened persons make mistakes. This is because enlightenment is not a constant, static state and even after attaining realization of this state, it can take years, perhaps even decades, to completely become one with it. There are states of enlightenment as well. Only in very rare cases the state is perfected quickly as in Sivakami Amma's case. Sri Ramana Maharishi, for example, himself said that, he needed 20 years after his first realization (at the age of 16) for that state to become complete and perfect in his being. Along the way, it is possible to commit mistakes.

All people, from children to elders, have glimpses of the now-moment but without a constant spiritual effort and meditation this state can not become permanent. And further, when this Self-Realization has been attained, again it requires effort to perfect it. But surely, each choice to return to this moment is fulfilling and rewarding to anyone. So let's do it and enjoy it together!
